About this site

What is the place?
I consider this a game-domain / Fangirl Domain. It's basically a way to explore things that I have a strong interest in so others can learn more about them. My sites range from video games and music to film, television and even at times, literature. Since I'm no longer a teenager, I'm finding less and less time to play video games, so I consider myself retired from them. This means I will probably not be making anymore sites pertaining to them; how tragic, I know! I'm still trying to be fun and informative so that you visitors don't fall asleep. I highly suggest joining the online world of fan-girling (or fan-boying) because it's fun, you learn a lot and it takes a ton of time away from more important things like school and dating. ;)

The Name:
I chose the name Besaid.com from the RPG Final Fantasy X. The name is pronounced BE-SAYED, not BE-SAID. It is my favorite location in the story of Final Fantasy X because it has so much history and it is also where the main hero & protagonist, Tidus, first washed up on shore. I sometimes call this place the Crusade network because Besaid Island had the important crusade affiliation; I also like to pretend that I'm a crusader in this world. The island is gorgeous and peaceful and even though it was once a Machina island, it remained a cozy and inviting atmosphere full of peace. I just had to name my game domain after something so serene.

Hosted by:
Ataraxy.net is my host; they provide lots of space, unlimited subdomains, and email forwarders. I also have my own email accounts, and cool add-ons that I should probably use, but never do. I recommend this company, but hosting costs about $50 US a year for 250MB and the domain name comes free. They have great customer service however, and they always respond to questions within an hour or two. I am very happy with them. company!

I'd just like to add, thank you to Ami for giving me some nice tips on buying domains.

domain history

This domain is farely new; it opened on 9-26-03. My experience with web design and websites began around 1998 when I was only 10 years old! One day I was sitting inside the Middlebury College library and I was browsing through sailor moon fansites because what else does a little kid have to do?! I was a huge Sailormoon fan around this time and I was looking up character profiles. At the same time, I was talking to my friend who had created a website for her "band". She referred me to a website called gURLpages. It was a free hosting site, like geocities, but it was focused mainly on girls. Aside from building a website or blog, it had sections on relationship advice, horoscopes, shopping, and all kinds of girl stuff. So, I read through all the directions and tutorials and began my one page site about Sailor moon! How cool was I?

Well, everyday that summer I came back and worked on this one page site. Eventually I added more and more to it, such as pages on astrology, dragonball z and gundam wing. As I began understand the computer language of html, this site became a collective. I still did not have photoshop at this point, so I used free layouts from great resources. This collective became known as the Anime Tea House. This collective became quite large so I moved it to geocites. Somehow, I got a ton of visitors. This was way back when fan sites were not as popular.

So the years past and I finally couldn't stand using nasty geocities anymore. So, I decided to just buy my own domain, which I named besaid.com after the beautiful island from one of my favorite RPGs, Final Fantasy X.
I'm quite happy with the end results. ♥
